Corpus!!!
What is Corpus?
As the teacher told us, Corpus is a group of words or phrases, stores in a computer. It shows us how frequent the word are, such as in oral or written speech.
There are different kinds of Corpus. Some referred to the common vocabulary, we use in ordinary conversations, and others referred to specific or particular topics.
Corpus has an important influence in some types of books, specially in dictionaries. Most of them are based on it. And not only dictionaries, there are also others texts based on Corpus. That means, that, depending on the style of the text, phrases are written with the most fequent words they have.
In the case of dictionaries, some of them show us the frequency of the word we are looking for.
I strongly believe that we, as future teacher, have to have close relation with Corpus. Only by studying Corpue, we can teach efficient and good vocabulary to oue pupils. Otherwise, we could teach them some words that are not frequent as they were. Besides, Corpus amplifies our writting and speaking skills. This last point is substantial if we want to change the way in which teacher are seen by others.
